Second Period Report Card
Looking ahead to the next marking period, I wanted to make you aware of some benchmarks we are working towards for the end of the second marking period.
In Language Arts:
-follow print with finger from top to bottom, left to right, word by word, and page by page
-Identify/name 52/52 letters
-give a rhyming word for a word told to them
-segment words into syllables and blend words from syllables back into words
-give 31/31 letter/sound correspondences
-read at least 26 Kindergarten sight words
-independently read pre-decodable books with purpose and understanding
-Independently produce an excellent illustration with many details and a corresponding sentence using beginning, middle, and ending sounds.

In Mathematics
-Name numerals 0-20
-Rote count to 50
-Touch and count objects to 20
-Compare numbers
-Identify whether the # of objects in one group is greater than, less than, or equal to the number of objects in another group
-Sort objects by color, shape, size, or other attribute.
-Identify square, rectangle, circle, hexagon and triangle
Science/Social Studies
-Identify the parts of a tree, how they change over seasons, why trees are important to us
-Develop an understanding of wood and paper (as associated with trees) and their uses

-Print first name neatly, with excellent letter formation and upper and lowercase letters where applicable
-Print letters, numerals, and words neatly and correctly with Handwriting Without Tears formation
